While chomping on choco-rum balls, and marzipan rinds.
Christmas means warm boots and sweet sunshine.
And, greeting friends and family over generous gulps of mulled wine.
Christmas means memories of a childhood family picnic
When ‘Burrah Din’ meant carolling, and lots of fun and frolic.
Christmas means decking trees, and midnight mass with friends
To rejoice over a humble child’s birth that continues till the year ends.
Christmas means getting yet another chance to make amend
For what you may have done unwittingly, and would like to transcend.
Christmas means a time of reflecting, sharing, and flocking
To realize that there’s more to life than what Santa stuffed up your stocking.
*Coming back from a long and late business trip on Christmas Eve, festivities were on my mind, when Poetry PotLuck invited entries on the theme of Celebrations and Festivities. So, here goes a rather late entry…though the Season’s good cheer still prevails 🙂
